Project Description

Cook County, Minnesota was searching for a way to grow their Facebook presence and increase the number of opt-ins on their website and social channels. They turned to SMCpros to develop a strategy that would help Cook County reach their target audience while showcasing the beauty of northern Minnesota and all that it has to offer.


SMCpros developed an interactive photo contest for the Visit Cook County Facebook Page that could also be accessed on their website, making it easy for their target audience to use no matter where they were online. The contest encouraged fans to upload and vote on their favorite photos taken at various locations within Cook County, featuring a grand prize winter getaway for the highest vote-getter each month.

The campaign was a big success featuring dozens of submissions and hundreds of total votes (321) in just its first two months of operation. In addition, Visit Cook County gave away two of its four Grand Prize winter getaways valued at more than $1,000 per trip! By the end of the quarter-long contest, Cook County has acquired new email opt-ins to be used for future marketing purposes and have set up a solid foundation online where they can continue to build and grow their community.
