AT&T Releases iPhone App for Dropped Calls

It is no secret that AT&T’s network has been strained by all the data being gobbled up by iPhones. Many people have been complaining on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter. AT&T has been taking note and actually responding. Last week I tweeted my complaint on Twitter about my recent network issues. I have had all iterations of the iPhone since its debut over three years ago. I personally did not have issues on AT&T’s network during the first few years of service. Recently however, I have had more dropped calls, failed calls, and problems in general then I can possibly imagine. Frustrated, I turned to Twitter and made it known that I was having issues and was not happy about it.
It was not long before an AT&T customer service representative reached out to me publicly. The representative stated who they were and that they wanted to help. They asked me to send them a private message with my cell phone number so that they could call me. With nothing to lose, I didn’t hesitate and sent back my phone number. I received a call within a few hours. The representative verified it was me and my account information before asking what concerns I had. Not only did he issue a network trouble ticket, but also took liberty by going the extra mile. He asked me to take note of when, where, who I was talking with (as in their number/network), and report back to him so they could try and pin point the problems. I left the phone call not only impressed, but also pleased that my service provider actually cares.
Today AT&T released a new free app in the iTunes app store for the iPhone. The app is simple but very important and again shows they are taking the network complaints seriously. With the new application you can mark the spot on the map that you are when you drop a call, have a call failure, and much more. The map is in the application itself and actually puts a pin in the map where you mark your location. On the 3G and 3Gs iPhone the GPS chip is utilized to pinpoint your location. The app is free and available in the app store now. Simply search for “Mark the Spot”.
