Business-wide Blogging
One of the best ways to ensure that your team is blogging is to create some sort of incentive plan encouraging the members of your organization to blog on a consistent basis. As an executive member of an organization, you could put together a contest to see whose blog entries get the most visits over the course of a quarter and give a prize to that individual. Another option would be to add a small financial penalty to those who skip their blogging duties. For instance, your team could agree that if you do not contribute to the blog on a weekly basis, you must buy them lunch, pay them each a cash reward (say $25), or contribute money to a collection fund to be used for the next company outing or holiday party. Installing these sorts of “just for fun” penalties/incentives increases the likelihood that you and your organization continue to create and distribute content on your company blog and it creates some fun competition as each participant eagerly waits for somebody to forget their blogging commitments. Reminding everybody that the blog content is an important part of your company’s web and social media strategies is important as you continue to grow your company’s presence online. New content improves SEO results, drives traffic to your website, and forms a camaraderie throughout your organization as everybody participates in the creation and distribution of company related content. The great thing about social media is that your employees will inherently receive credit for their blog entries (and thoughts) because each blog entry includes the contributor’s name in the post. No more forgetting to give credit where credit is due. Good luck!
