Social Media and Email Accounts
As you create your profiles on social networking sites, it is important to consider which email account you want to use for logins and alerts. Many professionals use their work emails for login credentials and to receive messages from various social networking sites. A problem can arise when employers choose to block incoming emails from social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. When this happens, you will no longer be notified of alerts; decreasing your ability to monitor your own Facebook wall (for instance) and stay aware of other important activities that affect your online identity. To avoid this situation, you may want to think about using a personal email account for logins and alerts. Going one step further, you may even want to create an additional personal email account that just serves as your social media repository for alerts, messages, and updates.
