Simple steps – blog your way into social media

A blog is a great way to provide information, initiate communication, and gain exposure online.  Starting a blog can be one of the quickest and most effective ways to participate in social media.  Blogging allows you to express yourself online to anybody who is interested in reading your content.  As you become more comfortable in your blogging activities, you will notice how much easier it is to think up relevant content to put within tweets, status messages, and other updates.  Your blog can become the central hub of communication efforts since it allows you to focus on a particular agenda and then message bits and pieces out to the world through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.  Ideally, you will want to direct viewers back to your original blog post when tweeting or messaging content from your blog.  And remember, only put information online that you are comfortable having everybody read.

I would go so far as to say that the Blog is your Hub or should become your hub. Popular Blogs that are good examples of this are Perry Belcher, and Jonathan Bud. But like every Hub they always need work as they are how people will get their first impression of you. If your hub or blog is painful to look at and is not updated with current posts you will have no audience to speak to and those who do stumble onto your Blog will be unimpressed and the work you have placed into it will have been in vain.

Be yourself in your blog and keep professional. The linked buttons to your social profiles is where you will see some of the greatest ROI. People who follow your blog will contact you through these mediums so you must make sure you have a good well written story of who you are and what you are about that will resonate with your target audience and further the connection.

Social Media is meant to be social, sales and friendships are made online but they often take more touches than they do in person.

    Great topic Adam
